This would allow for a more transparent evaluation of the quantitative impacts on nature and the landscape during the design and planning phases. Enter Infraspace, a tech startup specialized in the construction industry.

Their joint pilot project showed how the Infraspace platform can effectively save time, reduce costs, and decrease the environmental impact by providing immediate insights during the early planning stages of a road construction project. During the pilot, it was demonstrated how stakeholders like Nye Veier can get instant insight about  carbon emissions in minutes, not days and weeks as with more traditional methods.

This collaboration not only benefits Nye Veier significantly, but also boosts the commercial success of Infraspace. It serves as a blueprint for future collaborations in sustainable infrastructure development

Norconsult and Infraspace have joined forces to revolutionize infrastructure planning through artificial intelligence (AI). This collaboration, initiated in April 2024, focused on optimizing the planning of the new Riksvei 4 highway along Lake Mjøsa. The goal was to enhance decision-making by incorporating both economic and environmental factors, such as land use, biodiversity, and carbon emissions, into the evaluation of alternative road alignments.

By leveraging Infraspace’s AI-driven analysis tool, Norconsult significantly improved efficiency in project assessment, reducing the time required for complex calculations from days to minutes. This resulted in faster, data-driven decision-making and a more comprehensive evaluation of project impacts. To build trust in the technology, initial analyses were conducted using both traditional methods and the AI tool, validating its accuracy and effectiveness.
